Born and raised in Upstate New York, I’ve come to recognize the uniqueness of this region and the troubles it faces under the shadow of NYC. Our culture, hopes, and struggles differ greatly from those of Downstate, and for this reason, I believe it is time for us to become our own state: Adirondack. This separation would allow us to control our own resources and make decisions that best reflect our values and needs.

Decades of governance by a single urban area has led to uneven development and an imbalance in the distribution of state resources.

By forming the state of Adirondack, we would no longer be overshadowed by NYC. We would instead have the autonomy to manage our affairs, most notably resource allocation, economic development, and education, directly reflecting the needs and values of our region’s residents.
