The Issue
The citizens of Pennsylvania deserve an efficient and effective legislative process, one that addresses the matters important to us. Currently, House Bill 41, a piece of vital legislation, has gotten through committee but has not been placed on the floor yet for consideration and, as concerned Pennsylvanians, we urge the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Leadership to take immediate action and move H.B.41 to the floor for a fair and open debate.
H.B.41 addresses critical issues that directly impact the student-athletes in the PIAA state playoff system. Currently, the PIAA says they cannot place boundary (public) and non-boundary (private) schools in their own separate PIAA playoff classifications. Why must this happen? Due to the evolving scope and scale of the athletic recruitment process by non-boundary high schools, public boundary high schools are competing less and less for state championships as evidenced by a robust and fact-driven statistical data analysis.
It is essential for our representatives to demonstrate transparency and accountability by bringing this bill to the floor and allowing for a comprehensive discussion among all representatives. This not only highlights the democratic ethos we hold dear but also ensures that all voices are heard and debated upon in a public forum.
Statistics show that delays in enacting needed legislation can have long-term detrimental impacts and in this case, those impacts will continued to be felt by boundary high school student-athletes. By moving H.B.41 forward, we have the opportunity to forge a pathway towards a more fair PIAA state playoff system.
We urge the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to set aside any bureaucratic inertia and move H.B.41 to the floor immediately. The future of our high school state athletic competitions and the wellbeing of our student athletes depend on timely legislative action.
Sign this petition to demand accountability and action from your representatives. Let your voice be heard and help us bring H.B.41 to the floor for consideration.
