Children need to know they are being protecting. If their offender gets out of jail in 18 months, what good does that do the child? Sure, the law may keep the predator at 1,000ft, but it makes the child feel like what they went through was a waste of time. For example, at 13 years old, I was molested. I reported, went through a rape kit at the hospital, countless interviews with police detectives, and got what out of it? He was sentenced to 18 months and probation. While on probation, he molested his own biological child. I reported it because I felt doing so would prevent another child from being hurt the way I was. This is a HUGE problem and it needs to stop. DUI laws can change. Murder laws can change. Why can't laws change to help protect our kids from sexual predators? Please take time to sign this and maybe help me make a difference.
