Algo que se ha estado sucediendo durante años finalmente ha salido a la luz gracias a las investigaciones, el trabajo duro y la devoción de diputadxs participantes de la Comisión de la Mujer, la Niñez, la Juventud y la Familia.

Ahora estamos formalmente anuentes que los albergues para niños y adolescentes dirigidos y supervisados ​​por el estado panameño han estado violando los derechos humanos de estos y han estado practicando acciones ilegales e inhumanas que afectan el bienestar y futuro de nuestros niños, jóvenes y mujeres.

Las condiciones de estos hogares no son solo inhumanas, sino también una vergüenza internacional para el país. Ha pasado un mes desde que se presentaron públicamente los primeros informes de una investigación y aún estamos por escuchar un plan de acción del gobierno y una actualización sobre la condición de todos los niños y jóvenes que permanecen en estos albergues.

Como panameña, como cofundadora de Hecha y Derecha, una organización que trabaja por el empoderamiento de las mujeres y como ser humano que se preocupa por el bienestar de nuestros niños y jóvenes, esto me hace perder el sueño por la noche. Por eso, HOY en mi cumpleaños número 32, les pido a mis amigos, familiares y desconocidos que firmen esta petición que planeo presentar formalmente al gobierno y presionar PARA OBTENER RESPUESTAS.

Something that has been playing out for years has finally come out to the light thanks to the investigations, hard work and fearless devotion of the legislative members participating in the Comission for women, youth and children. 

We have now formally learned that Panamanian state led and state supervised shelters for children and teenagers have been violating the human rights of these and have been practicing illegal and inhumane actions detrimenting the wellbeing and future of our children, youth and women.

The conditions of these shelters is not only inhumane but an international embarrassment to the country. A month has passed since the first reports of an investigation was publicly presented and we are still to hear an action plan from the government and an update on the condition of all the children and youth that remain in these shelters.

As a Panamanian, as the co-founder of Hecha y Derecha, an organization that works for women empowerment and as a human being that deeply cares about our children and youth this makes me loose sleep at night. This is why, TODAY on my 32nd birthday, I ask my friends, family and strangers to sign this petition that I plan to formally present to the government and push FOR ANSWERS.
