On Oct 3, 2019 The Orange County Parks Board of supervisors had a meeting and E-bikes was a major topic on the Agenda. The Electric Mountain Bike Association was there and argued for e-bike access along with other interested parties from the public and the bike industry. For our supporters who did not attend we are pleased to be able to bring you a video record of what happened in the meeting. See the following part 1 and part 2 videos. We presented a two foot high stack of paper to the board that included current law and our petition of over 3800 supporters that signed it. We thank you kindly for your support of the Electric Mountain Bike Association. Without your support we could not fight this fight for you. Please join and support the Electric Mountain Bike Association if you have not already done so, membership is free.
Part 1
Part one of OC Parks Board of Supervisors meeting
Part 2
Part two of OC Parks Board of Supervisors meeting
Notice Stacy Blackwood the OC Parks Director stonewalling us and the board. She subtly alluded to cutting off all bike access to parts of the park without being obvious to the board. She expressed this more explicitly to me in privately after the meeting. Stating that this was specifically under consideration and cited that this was done in another park.
This was in response to my asking her if will OC parks will allow class one and two e-bikes if Fish and Wildlife (who she is looking to for guidance) comply with the Secretory of the Interiors Aug. 28, 2019 order requiring that e-bikes be treated as normal bikes.
Please note attached is a two part video. We obviously have a lot more work to do. Please join and support the Electric Mountain Bike Association.
