I just had a very interesting conversation with someone who rides in Angeles District Parks and the Santa Monica Mountains who was also denied access by Superintendent Craig Sap based on his application to use his E-bike as an OPDMD. He says that he rides there anyway and has been stopped several times and only been given a verbal warning. Superintendent Craig Sap confirmed that it would be hard for them to enforce his posted order banning e-bikes until they have signs posted. He also confirmed about a month ago that he is unaware of any citation have been issued based on his order. I think that they also are providing a period of warnings before enforcing. But just the same Superintendent Craig Sap's position as of today is still No E-bikes will be permitted even as OPDMDs except in paved and developed area of the park (lIke in the parking lot or paved camping areas). This individual also indicated that he has been stopped in the Santa Monica Mountains on Federal land and has only been given a verbal warning as well. He is going to keep us informed of any changes that he sees in signage and enforcement in that area.

Photo of 81+ year old Stan Ramsey a retired policeman enjoying a ride in OC Parks on his e-bike, stopped for a photo with two deer in background. You have to look close to see the second deer. HIs e-bike is now banned from OC parks and so is he given that his e-bike was the only way that he could access the bike trails.
