Today I noticed that Trail Forks the trail app states that my locals trails do not allow E-bikes. So are they intentionally lying to their users (mostly standard bike owners) to keep them happy? Or are they just ignorant? Or are they getting their information from the fake news that People for Bikes is putting out on their E-bike legal trail map? I went for a 20 mile E-bike ride from Cooks Corner to Aliso Viejo and back with my friend today who just got an E-bike. As with most of us his E-bike has changed his life in as much as it is improving his health and giving him longer to live. He said to me I feel guilty and like I am doing something wrong when I go on a paved bike path that says "No Motorized Vehicles". Face it, there is a concerted effort and disinformation campaign by the powers that be in America to stifel and eliminate E-bikes. It is for the same reason that the first cars were looked at as bad by those that used a horse and buggy. And snow boarders were looked at as bad by skiers who did not want to share the mountains with them. Basically for no good reason at all. Land Manager Superintendent Craig Sap has already closed Angeles District Park bike trails to E-bikes and the National Forest and Park Service bans them on their bike trails too. At least seven States have already adopted legislation that says that low power pedal assist bikes are not considered motorized vehicles and allow them on bike paths and trails. In California AB 1096 amended the vehicle code to this effect and Federally HR 727 also classifies low power pedal assist bikes as not motor vehicles. Yet the Forest and Park Service claims that they are motorized vehicles and ban from bike trails. Superintendent Crag Sap states that his reason for banning e-bikes is to be consistent with adjoining Park Service e-bike ban. Basically the Santa Monica Mountains and all Angeles District Park bike trails are closed to E-bikes. The real problem here is the disinformation campaign by existing bike groups on behalf of elitist bike owners. E-bike and especially E-MTB owners do not have enough organized supporters to be able to share the trails. The http://www.ElectricMountainBikeAssociation.org is organizing all e-bike owners to stand up for our right to ride e-bikes on public bike paths and trails in America. Please join us, Membership is free. We already have 250 members of the E-MTBAssociation and 1500 supporters of our petition to overturn the e-bike ban on Angeles District Park bike trails and paths at: https://www.change.org/p/seniors-citizens-banned-from-using… Please join us to fight for your right to ride at: http://www.ElectricMountainBikeAssociation.org Please also like us on Facebook at E-MTBAssociation and thank you for your help and support. This is no time to remain silent, please stand up and be counted by joining http://www.ElectricMountainBikeAssociation.org. It only takes 30 seconds to make a difference and membership is free. The photo is a Trail Forks App page clearly falsely stating that E-bikes are not allowed in Wood Canyon despite AB 1096 having been signed into law effective 1/1/2016 stating that they are. Please join us we need your help to keep our trails open to e-bikes.
