Send wolves involved in Italy attacks to sanctuaries
The Issue
In the summer of 2026, Italy witnessed a series of alarming incidents involving wolves. These animals, majestic and iconic as they are, found themselves in situations leading to attacks on humans. Notably, in Arrone, a four-year-old girl was bitten, and tourists in Gallipoli were injured. Such events understandably cause fear and provoke strong emotional responses.
However, at least one of the involved wolves has already been found and relocated to a sanctuary, which reflects a more humane and thoughtful approach. Rather than resorting to lethal measures, placing them in sanctuaries ensures their safety and well-being, while also securing the public from further potential incidents.
After a farmer in Tuscany was bitten by who was probably a farm dog, we don't want wolves blamed.
Wolves are an essential part of our ecological system, playing a critical role in maintaining the balance in the environment. History and science have shown us that removing apex predators from the wild can have detrimental impacts on ecosystems. Sanctuaries provide a viable alternative, allowing these animals to live out their lives in a controlled environment, away from humans but still contributing to broader conservation efforts.
Italy can lead by example in wildlife management by promoting such compassionate measures. Killing these wolves would not only generate backlash from animal rights advocates but also ignore the potential for more constructive solutions.
By signing this petition, you support relocating the wolves involved in these incidents to sanctuaries. Support humane and responsible wildlife management and help Italian authorities recognize and implement better measures in dealing with animal-human conflicts. Please sign this petition to protect both humans and wolves, fostering coexistence and compassion.
