The Issue
I am petitioning for my husband Jesus Ruiz, who has been incarcerated since 1984 for 41 years and has chronic medical conditions. Jesus will be 71 years old in January 2026 and at 71 years old he deserves and has earned the right to come home to receive proper medical and nutritional care for his conditions. During these 41 years he has always maintained he was mistakenly charged and furthermore illegally sentenced. The judge and prosecutor stated Jesus was unable to rehabilitate therefore going out of the sentencing guidelines and giving him a sentence of life without parole. Usually for a 2nd degree murder charge the maximum is 40 years. Jesus has remained violent free for the years he has been incarcerated, proving he is not a violent man, also proving the judge and prosecutor were mistaken. Jesus turned his life to Christ in 1987 and for the last 38 years he has dedicated his life to sharing the Word of God helping others stay away from drugs and violence turning their lives to God.
Jesus arrived in this country from Cuba in 1970 at the tender age of 15 with his mother, stepfather and his autistic loving stepbrother. It was very difficult for the family upon arriving to a country not knowing anyone or speaking the language. After a few months in Miami, Jesus was left homeless by his stepfather. Unfortunately, Jesus found help in the wrong crowd. Many studies have shown there is extreme mental damage stemming from childhood abuse and traumas.
We humbly ask you sign this petition to ask our Governor Ron DeSantis to please give Jesus Ruiz some relief in whichever manner he finds fit. We just want Jesus to come home to his family. We pray Governor DeSantis gives Jesus either of the available options which are clemency/commutation of sentencing, parole, medical conditional release or house arrest being monitored.
Thank you for your time in reading our petition and considering joining us in this humanitarian cause for our loved one.
Thank you and May God bless you and yours.
