Send federal emergency support to Oregon’s wildfire crews now

The Issue

Oregon is burning.

The Cram Fire has already scorched more than 95,000 acres, destroyed homes, and forced evacuations across Jefferson and Wasco counties.

It’s now the largest wildfire in the U.S. this year, and it’s on track to become a megafire—a rare but growing threat fueled by extreme heat, drought, and delayed federal response.

More than 900 firefighters are working around the clock to protect lives, homes, and land. But they are overstretched, under-resourced, and exhausted. Oregon is facing at least nine large wildfires at once—and still, critical fire crews and equipment are limited.

We’re calling on the Trump administration and FEMA to immediately send federal emergency support to Oregon’s wildfire crews.

  • Deploy more federal wildland firefighting crews, helicopters, and air tankers to Oregon
  • Release emergency housing and smoke relief funds for impacted families
  • Provide support for state and tribal governments managing evacuations and recovery
  • Ensure firefighter hazard pay and extended contracts during extreme fire events

The federal government cannot keep waiting until homes are destroyed or fires cross 100,000 acres before acting. Megafires are no longer rare. They are the new normal—and our communities and firefighters deserve backup.

Act now. Don’t let Oregon fight this megafire alone.
