The Southern Resident killer whale connection to the lower Snake River dams and their detrimental effects on the SRKW Chinook salmon prey recovery base had a sobering effect. Our next step is to push this petition even further in order to reach 25,000 signatures. The pressure is increasing! This year is the 10 Year Anniversary of the SRKW's inclusion (and now Lolita's) on to the Endangered Species list. Billions have been spent on ineffective salmon recovery efforts in the Columbia Basin but little change has gone into the fact that these valiant and resilient salmon and steelhead need free flowing waters to survive and become sustainable.
