If enacted, the impact of Amend #50 has seriously negative implications for Civil Air Patrol will likely see an exhaustion of maintenance funds before the end of the year, a reduction in our aircraft fleet by 75 aircraft and a significant reduction in national headquarters staff. In addition, there would be a 21% reduction in overall support for Air Force missions compared to FY12 and a 52% decrease in homeland security and air defense training as well as other negative impacts. If a sequestration cut is added on top of this reduction in funding the impact on CAP could be devastating.
Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the Air Force, fully volunteer ran. It's members makes up everyone from 12 year old cadets to 60 year old pilots and senior members who willingly give up there time to step in to aid Search and Rescue missions, Disaster Relief (Sandy, Katrina, Henryville, Indiana- Tornado). This program has been around since 1941 Dec, 1st. Before the Air Force itself was even around. Civil Air Patrol sunk two U-Boats during WWII and did much, much more. Don't let our program be destroyed by this budget cut!
