We have a little more time to call and write the Maine legislators. You might want to reference this wonderful letter which makes the options quite clear. “ To Whom It May Concern, My name is Joe Minutolo. I am 59 years old, and lived in Bar Harbor for 50 of those years. I have also been involved in business for 40 years at Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop. We are a year round employer, that supports our community in many different ways.  The latest is serving on the Ferry Terminal Property Advisory Committee that was established by the Town of Bar Harbor. A group of 40 citizens worked very hard on this issue of developing the now defunct Bay Ferries sight. We worked countless hours gathering information through community outreach, working with experts, and debating in an open forum.  I attended as many as 4 to 5 meetings a week. As a group, we were consulted by Elizabeth Swain of Powers Engineers. This was a real community process !  In our findings,  the best option for our town was a Multi-Use Marina. 1) A Marina with roughly 40 slips to enhance recreational boating, and a place for visiting boaters to tie up.  2) A Commercial Float, to give a location that is more visible for a Ferry connecting Bar Harbor to Schoodic / ANP , and for Excursions, Tour Boats, Water Taxis, (and other small water-based businesses). 3) A Float, to receive some Tenders from Cruise Ships on the anchorage known as  B. It's more direct, and will relieve pressure in our downtown caused by such a concentration of people.  4) A Staging Area, for getting Cruise Ship passengers on Tour Buses and land based excursions they have booked.  5) A Tram System, to shuttle visitors to and from town in a more efficient way. 6)  Parking for day trippers, employees, and others.  7) Info Center  8) Museum (College of the Atlantic is looking for a location for Whale Museum) 9) Much needed access to the waterfront for residents, tourists, the fishing industry, and the commercial and recreational boating industry. For this plan a Port Authority is not needed, or wanted. The idea of a Cruise Ship Pier is totally the wrong direction for our town, that is being forced on this small community ! This is a big industry with tremendous power, and they have done a great job of suppressing this vision.  Please vote NO on LD1400, or this community driven vision will be lost forever !  If you have any questions, call 207-812-6336 or email jminutolo58@gmail.com Sincerely, Joe Minutolo” Whatever you do, let’s flood these legislators with our concerns. The future of our beautiful area depends on your actions right now. Thanks from the bottom of my heart, Sarah
