SEN sensory spaces and equipment for every classroom funding.

SEN sensory spaces and equipment for every classroom funding.
The Issue
Do I belong!
I am 11 years old and I struggle with sensory needs. It's hard to focus or feel comfortable in traditional learning environments that aren’t designed to cater to children like me. But more sensory support can change that, not just for me, but also for loads of other children who, like me, might feel out of place.
Sensory spaces are designed to help us manage overwhelming stimuli and allow us to concentrate, learn, and grow in a supportive environment. We need designated areas featuring calming lights, textures, and sounds, so children who have sensory needs can flourish and feel included.
According to the National Autistic Society, around 700,000 people in the UK,including children, are autistic. Many more have conditions affecting their sensory processing.
THAT IS 700,000 PEOPLE BEING LET DOWN, UNSUPPORTED AND HURTING!
Providing sensory spaces in classrooms is a FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENT for inclusiveness and fairness in education, in schools across the UK.
I’m calling on the UK Department for Education to ensure every school class is equipped with sensory equipment and spaces. National funding guidance can make sensory support a standard in all schools, giving every child the opportunity to excel regardless of their sensory needs.
Imagine schools where every child feels they BELONG! where differences are supported rather than overlooked. Implementing sensory spaces can foster an inclusive environment where kids can feel safe and supported, laying the groundwork for a brighter future.
Please join me in urging the UK Department for Education to prioritize funding for sensory spaces in classrooms and helping teachers to understand children like me. With your support, we can create schools that accommodate EVERYONE'S needs.
PLEASE sign this petition to make a difference before it is too late!
