courtney schulhoff deserves a chance of parole!!!! give her one!!

The Issue

Taken off of thecourtneycase.com site says a lot: Courtney was only 16 when her father abused her sexually. Her parents denied her everything which is normal to a teenager while her parents broke all rules. She responded with depression and agitation by doing all the forbidden things like smoking and drinking. She was sent away for institutional treatment while her mother ran away with another guy. Later Courtney was left alone with her father and he started to abuse/rape her. Courtney felt desperate and said she wished her father was dead. Her boyfriend acted accordingly and killed her father with a bat while she was standing outside. In the court she gave false evidence and admitted she had killed her father. She did this to save her boyfriend from death penalty. Courtney Schulhoff – at the age of 16 - was sentenced to be imprisoned for life without parole! Courtney is now a very active girl/young woman. She passed the course of the architectural drafting. She acts as a teacher, she has her own class of inmates and she teaches in creative writing. On top of this, she has finished a course in law and is now a law clerk in the prison library. All these activities, and a conduct like Courtney’s, would in Europe - have granted her freedom after say 6-8 yrs – in America there is no such reward for good conduct – there is no mercy!

I was locked up in seminole county jail at the same time she was, i had a chance to get a feel for who she really was. A murderer was not one of them. courtney was a troubled scared lost misguided teen. i believe she deserves a chance to have a life of some kind. yes she took responsibility for what she had done and recieved a life sentence for it, there are many other teens out there who find them selves in the same place as she was, why not allow her to help them not make the same mistake she did. has she paid for her actions, i feel that she has. i herd her crying at night and heard the torment she went through for her actions. she was 16 when the crime was commited but 18 when she was sentenced. no one can bring people back but her punishment is a lot deeper than the courts can impose, she has to deal knowing she will never have another moment with her father. reguardless of alleged abuse, there is always a part of a girl who wishes to her father in a part of her life. please sign this petition and support the release of courtney in an effort to help other teens. it is not to send a message that killing your parent gets a slap on the hand but saying that we as a nation CAN understand people make mistakes, at least allow her the chance of parole.
