A Petition from the people of
Norfolk Island
The signatories to this petition seek to have our democratic and human rights upheld and protected.
We sign as many to enable and motivate our community, our fellow Pacific islanders, our Commonwealth of Nations parliamentary and United Nations supporters and representatives to speak up on our behalf to support the Norfolk Island petitions to the United Nations for appropriate access to human rights and to progress our listing as a non-self- governing territory, for consideration by the United Nations General Assembly and progression through the appropriate decolonisation channels.
This petition does not preclude any ongoing arrangements with Australia, however the self- determination process will ensure future partnerships meet appropriate levels of governance, democracy, equity and accountability in line with United Nations principles and International Covenants.
