Self defence and protection rights

The Issue

As you are probably aware of the tragic murder that happened during the daytime on Friday in the edge lane area of droylsden that has shook everyone especially the women of droylsden. Not only this but there has been a lot of women in the area being followed by men, reports of sexual assaults and attacks in general all mostly towards women.

And I have just found out that there is no legal self defence tool for women to use such as pepper spray, mace etc that women can use to protect themselves in these scary, unpredictable and increasing more common situations. The only legal tool that can be used is a rape alarm however the lady who’s life was sadly taken was screaming in pain and terror in a highly populated area and has sadly still lost her life, the screaming did not deter the man from taking her life so what good would a rape alarm do.
if women or men were to carry an item to protect themselves and are found in possession then you can get into trouble for wanting to protect yourself or if you were attacked and use it then you could be looking at prison time for what! Protecting yourself, for protecting your life or your decency. And it’s not right!!!

I guess what I’m trying to say is there anyway an effective self defence/ attack prevention tool could be created or been made legal to stop the millions of women in the uk from being scared to walk around their home towns even during the day. Terrible things are happening mainly to women and women are terrified and paranoid about what could happen to them when they are out and about especially with the amount of knife crime and sexual assaults as well as other crimes against women. Women need something effective to start feeling safe again and be able to go about their daily lives without panicking that something bad will happen to them.

Thankyou for your time, I hope you take my words into consideration. I feel as though I speak for every women currently in the UK who need a voice. I hope together we can find a solution.
