Last night the Board of Selectmen and General Manager of Belmont Light met to discuss open and outstanding issues. The handwritten petition (277 signatures) and our online petition (190 signatures + 51 comments!) were shared and discussed. In the weeds: a temporary Net Metering Working Group has been charged with - by Monday - removing Phase 2 language from Phase 1 documentation; then determining best net metering practices to establish a proper, fair policy. The Municipal Light Advisory Board (MLAB) has two long-term appointed seats held by Ashley Brown and Bob Forrester that are due to expire on June 30, 2015. The Board of Selectmen elected last night to promote two alternates to the voting MLAB and open the two alternate, non-voting positions to new members via open recruitment (check out www.belmont-ma.gov for the posting and application!). Ashley and Bob, who historically have been solar opponents are officially off MLAB on July 1, 2015. This is truly a victory! Thank you again for your interest, support and participation in the solar topic in Belmont, MA. With your continued help, we can move the needle in Belmont towards clean, renewable energy in a healthy and meaningful way. My humbled appreciation to you all. Erin Lubien
