There has not been a new Phantasy Star released in the west since Phantasy Star: Zero back in 2008.  However, there need not necessarily be a brand new game requiring years of design and creation.  The newly released Nintendo Switch is an ideal platform to release a Phantasy Star game; one that can transition seamlessly between a normal home console and a powerful mobile one.  I believe that the premier game to bring to the console is the famed Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst originally released for the PC in 2004.  With the Switch's Tegra chip set, it will be easier to port a version to the console, and the demand for the game is there, we just need to show Sega that it is worth their time!
