Hello all, I have had an update from Maria Bennett about our playground being re built. We are closer thsn ever and if funding is secured then it is important that we as a community get involved in deciding what will be installed at Smithy Green. I have had a meeting with the cabinet member, Ian Moncur and we have discussed the playground and we have identified monies from a variety of sources to include Sefton Council, the Ward Budget and Section 106 funds and I will also be requesting that the parish council ring fence funds for this project. The estimated cost for reinstating the playground is approximately £60,000 and I feel very confident now that this is fully achievable and that we can get the playground reinstated. What I would like to suggest is that we have a meeting with anyone who wants to be involved and get an idea of what it is that you are looking for in order that we can get plans drawn up for the project. It is a case of working together to ensure that we get what is best for the community and I know that the residents would want to be involved in the design of the playground. I can make arrangements for all the ward cllrs to meet with you to discuss your thoughts of what you want to see and I would hope that this playground would be reinstated by the spring/summer of next year.
