Clean botanic gardens lake

Clean botanic gardens lake

The Issue

Hi, my name is David Rawsthorne, my aim is too get botanic gardens lake in Southport cleaned, or at least fenced off to stop people/children from falling In, my main motivation for starting this petition is because my best friend Ben Smith Crallan fell in the lake in May and died from a bacteria he picked up in the lake, although this is not directly responsible for his demise the pollution and bad condition of the water played some part in his tragic death at age just 37. Other reasons I have started this petition is because botanic gardens is a beautiful park that me and many friends and family grew up visiting, the lake used to have rowing boats and pedalos for public use and it was a part of the attraction of visiting the park, it needs to be restored to it's former glory, a clean pollution free waterway would be beneficial in many ways not just for public safety but for attracting more visitors and tourists to the park.
