Include Sign Language in the school curriculum

Include Sign Language in the school curriculum
The Issue
In schools, it is mandatory to learn a second language. Commonly French, Spanish or German. But we have never been given the choice of sign language despite numerous assemblies in school about inclusion and including people. Sign language is their language. It is a universal language that people can begin to communicate with those who have a hearing disadvantage.
The school curriculum needs to include sign language not only to include those in the deaf community but so that we can communicate in full conversations as not everyone has access to hearing aids or a conch implant.
I personally know people who have all wanted to learn sign language but have never had the resources to. This is from those with and without hearing. I know many deaf people who all believe that sign language should be taught. Introducing it to the school curriculum will allow for higher communication as well as a higher skill set. If the curriculum is changed it allows the community to come together and in the future allows them to communicate with others in the work place or in other scenarios.
if the curriculum isn’t changed it will exclude the deaf community and leave many that are trying to learn without the resources.
