Seeking Justice: Pursuing Accountability for Manslaughter and Road Works Disruption by SGN

Seeking Justice: Pursuing Accountability for Manslaughter and Road Works Disruption by SGN
The Issue
We are deeply concerned about the tragic incident that occurred on the 8th of August 2022 in South London, resulting in the devastating loss of a child. On that fateful day, a neighbor's home exploded, causing irreparable damage, life-changing injuries, and the heart-breaking loss of 4-year-old Sahara, the beloved daughter of Sana Ahmad.
In the days leading up to this tragedy, Sana Ahmad had reported a gas leak to the utility company Southern Gas Network (SGN) on the 30th of July 2022. Despite acknowledging the gas leak a few doors down, SGN assured Sana and other residents that it was "nothing to worry about" and began repair work. This work continued until the 5th of August 2022, when SGN left the scene, stating that "everything is under control."
The Metropolitan Police conducted an extensive investigation and found no indication of fault or wrongdoing on the part of any residents in Galpins Road. However, they have not ruled out the possibility of bringing criminal prosecution against SGN as a company or any individuals involved.
Since the unfortunate incident, SGN has undertaken gas pipe upgrades in the South London area. However, shortly after completing upgrades in certain areas of their initial works, they were compelled to revisit their projects due to numerous reported gas leaks. This situation highlights concerns about the effectiveness of these engineers' performance, leading to considerable disruptions in roadwork that impact our community.
We, the concerned citizens of South London and supporters, call for justice and accountability. We urge authorities to thoroughly investigate SGN's actions leading up to the explosion and prosecute them for Gross Negligence Manslaughter.
Furthermore, we request that SGN takes immediate and effective measures to minimize the disruption caused by their roadworks and ensure the safety of South London residents.
By signing this petition, we stand together to seek justice for the victims of this tragedy and to prevent similar incidents in the future. We believe in the importance of holding accountable those responsible for such negligence and ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.
Join us in signing this petition to demand justice, safety, and accountability in South London. Together, we can make a difference and prevent such tragedies from happening again.
