Seeking justice for Mr. M. an abused greyhound

Seeking justice for Mr. M. an abused greyhound

The Issue

Sometimes bad things happen to an adopted greyhound. Even though we do our due diligence with home visits, reference checks and follow ups, bad things happened to Mr. M.

His racing name and the name of the 2 people who adopted him will not be divulged as the animal abuse case is being tried by the State of CT. Not only is there a state prosecutor assigned to the case, GRR has retained an animal advocate attorney. Mr. M. is now 11 years old and for 6 months before he was found on the road, he had been severely neglected to the point of abuse. He was a strong, happy 76lb male at 3 yrs old when he went to his forever home. When animal control took him in, he was 44lbs with badly infected pressure sores on his hip bones, barely able to walk. He had only been loose a matter of hours before being picked up. This was long-term ongoing neglect.

He’s being held as state’s evidence in a foster home. The animal control investigator did a wonderful job over 3 weeks while Mr. M was in foster care documenting his weight gain and overall physical improvement. His adopters, the people who were supposed to love and care for him, were arrested on 25k bond each.

The time to act is now! Calling all dog lovers and greyhound people. The trial is scheduled for July 29th in Litchfield Judical Court, 50 Field St. Torrington, CT at 9:45AM. Mr M and I need your support in front of the judge. Remember, this is what he looked like in mid April. The judge needs to know Mr M has a community behind him. Mr M's lawyer said the more greyhound and dog people involved the better.
