Helo (pronounced Hee-low) was a rambunctious 2yr old Rottweiler. Full of life, he loved his kids (the 6 grandchildren of our parents) & loved living in the country, playing soccer, swimming, & just being an all around amazing dog. Everything changed on 9/12/13 when he was taken from his yard on Richardson Road in Mossy Head, FL (little country community between Crestview & DeFuniak Springs) between the hours of 5 & 6am. We searched desperately, had amazing response...Helo had become a FB celebrity & we read tons of hopes & prayers for his safe return.
Sadly, on 9/14/13 around noon, a neighbor horseback riding on some land off Richardson Rd came across the body of a dog. It was Helo. He had been dumped by whomever had kidnapped him. He was found with a rope around his neck, he had been castrated, & was shot through the neck & dumped. We are here to fight for him & for all animals who have been victims of brutal acts of violence. We want harsher penalties for these acts. Thank you for joining us. Helo's case is currently under investigation with the Walton County Sheriff's Office . Emerald Coast Crimestoppers is offering up $1000 reward for info leading to an arrest. The Humane Society of the United States is offering $5000 for info leading to the arrest and conviction of Helos's killer(s). Please contact Walton County Sheriff's Office with any info on Helo's case or to report anything suspicious! Thank you all for your kind words & for supporting us in this campaign!
We ask that animal abuse definied as "intentional" be classified as a 2nd degree felony, resulting in a longer sentence & probation period. This would carry a max sentence of 15 years.
We also ask that in addition to the above, FL pass the adendum to require all licensed veterinarians & veterinarian technicians that practice in the State of FL to report any & all suspected or visual animal abuse & animal fighting to the proper authorities.
Justice for Helo is fighting for this action, not only for Helo but for all animals who have been victims of torture, mutilation, & ultimately, death. Join us on Facebook @ https://www.Facebook.com/justiceforhelo

- Florida Governor
We petition for an animal abuse registry, raising violent crimes against animals to a 2nd degree felony, & requiring all veterinarians & veterinarian technicians to report suspected animal abuse/animal fighting. Animal abuse is on the rise, not only in Florida, but everywhere. Florida stands to be a leader for others to follow as far as stricter punishments & a database to expose those that abuse animals.
