The Issue

As a lifelong dog lover, I've always believed in the innate goodness and loyalty of our canine companions. Unfortunately, they cannot speak for themselves, which is why it's crucial that we step in to advocate for them when they're misunderstood or mistreated. This petition is about Major, a 65-pound Belgian Malinois whose survival instincts were tragically mistaken for aggression after a traumatic incident.

On a fateful day, Major found himself in a dire situation. Hit by a truck, he was left severely bleeding and in excruciating pain. In the midst of this trauma, a stranger attempted to pull Major from behind, prompting a reaction purely driven by fear and survival instinct. This was not an unprovoked attack; it was a terrified response from a dog trying to protect himself in a moment of vulnerability.

Yet, instead of receiving the care and understanding he needed, Major has been painted as dangerous, facing the grim prospects of punishment for what can only be described as a natural trauma response. It's disheartening to see a system set up to penalize a dog for reacting out of acute distress rather than aggression.

We are petitioning for Major's immediate release to a specialized breed rescue organization where he can receive the compassionate and professional care he deserves. Alternatively, if it is deemed viable, we request that Major be returned to his owner under a strict, monitored Dangerous Dog Agreement, ensuring both his safety and that of the community.

We believe Major deserves a second chance, an opportunity to heal both physically and emotionally in a supportive environment. This isn't just a plea for Major; it's a stand for all dogs whose voices are drowned out in the chaos of fear and misunderstanding. With structured support, monitoring, and love, Major can live a safe and happy life.

Join us in urging the authorities to reevaluate Major's case with fairness and empathy, ensuring his life is not unjustly cut short by prejudice and fear. Sign this petition to help make a real change for Major and for any dog that may find themselves in a similar position. Together, we can give Major the justice he rightfully deserves.
