Seek justice for Charley Collins' aka Law Cease murder
The Issue
On Thanksgiving, a day meant for gratitude and family, six children lost their father, and his mother lost her only son and last living child, Charley Collins. This case isn't just another statistic for me; it's deeply personal and profoundly painful. Charley was more than a victim—he was a loving father, a son, and a cherished member of our family.
Tragically, Charley's life was cut short during a verbal argument when Ms. Nicole Daniels shot him three times and later claimed the altercation became physical. However, it was Charley who courageously called the police first, seeking their assistance. His call for help went unheeded, and within three minutes of his call, he was gone. Ms. Nicole Daniels called and stated she shot him.
Despite the grave circumstances, the Chicago State's Attorney has yet to charge Ms. Daniels with first-degree murder. This oversight is not just a lapse in the judicial process, but a significant barrier to justice for Charley's children, his mother, and his grieving family.
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, personal disputes account for a significant number of assaults and homicides annually. Yet, when preventive measures like police intervention are called upon, especially by victims themselves, the justice system needs to respond decisively and uphold the rule of law.
Charging Ms. Daniels appropriately is a crucial step towards ensuring justice for a father taken too soon and for sending a message that no one is above the law. Charley's legacy deserves respect, and his children deserve closure, knowing that justice is served for their father.
We urge the Chicago State's Attorney's Office to reconsider the evidence at hand and prioritize this case with the serious attention it warrants. By charging Ms. Nicole Daniels with the appropriate legal consequences, we can ensure that Charley's death is met with accountability and justice.
