Seeing Double: Support Melrose Pickleball
Seeing Double: Support Melrose Pickleball
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Melrose, Massachusetts, support the initiative to double line two of the tennis courts at Tremont Street in Melrose for pickleball. Currently there are eight public tennis courts and zero public pickleball courts in Melrose. This modification will facilitate shared access to the courts for both tennis and pickleball enthusiasts in our community.
Reasons for Support:
Increased Accessibility: Pickleball is rapidly gaining popularity. By accommodating this sport, we can make recreational activities more accessible to a wider audience.
Efficient Use of Existing Facilities: Double lining two courts will allow for optimal use of the current resources, enabling both tennis and pickleball players to enjoy the courts without requiring new construction.
Community Engagement: A shared multi-sport environment promotes interaction among residents and encourages participation in physical activities, enhancing community spirit.
We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the Park Commission, Mayor and the Park and Recreation Departments take the necessary steps to implement this initiative.
