Will Greyhound Abuse make a Return to Sedgwick County?

Will Greyhound Abuse make a Return to Sedgwick County?
The Issue
Will Greyhound abuse be making a return to Sedgwick County? County Commissioners Michael O'Donnell and Pete Meitzner are behind a plan to revive a dog racing industry with an atrocious history of poor treatment and conditions of Greyhounds.
The Sedgwick County Commission agenda for next week's meeting includes a question about conducting a non-binding county-wide "advisory election" to place Electronic Gaming Machines at the Wichita Greyhound Park. The Legislature has not authorized this vote, making the vote merely "advisory" and non-binding.
Beyond the poor treatment of Greyhound dogs in parimutuel racing, the Kansas Attorney General has already stated that expanded gaming cannot occur in Sedgwick County, Kansas without authorization from the Kansas Legislature because we have already declined expanded gaming here in 2007.
Be sure to communicate with your Commissioner by Wednesday, Sept. 4 to let them know that you oppose Greyhound abuse and this Advisory Election Ballot.
