Many thanks to those of you who have written to your local MP, asking them to challenge the government’s decision to fund the abandonment of Queensbury Tunnel. We really appreciate your time and help.

The reasons behind this detrimental move are becoming clearer by the day as new evidence is obtained. It has nothing to do with safety, contrary to National Highways’ claims. The risks presented by the tunnel are currently low and that reality is unlikely to change, given the nature and extent of the works carried out in 2018-21.

We’re on the brink of losing the opportunities presented by this grand Victorian asset because National Highways and the Department for Transport refuse to see its value as a potentially useful piece of transport infrastructure; they want rid of the liabilities once and for all.

It’s important for MPs to understand how many people are appalled by the proposed wasting of £7.5M of public money. Please use the link below to send a letter to your MP, expressing your concerns and asking them to challenge the abandonment plans.
