Petition updateSecuring a beneficial future for Queensbury TunnelChallenging permitted development abuses

Almost 250 people have now objected to National Highways’ retrospective planning application to retain the unauthorised infill at St Andrew’s Lane bridge at Congham, Norfolk which was carried out under the same erroneous permitted development rights as the infilling of No.2 Shaft at Queensbury Tunnel.

The state-owned roads company was attempting to systematically misapply these rights in the pursuit of more than 30 infill schemes across the county, thereby circumventing democratic scrutiny.

Can we please urge those of you who have not yet done so to also submit objections? The strongest possible message must be sent to decision-makers that National Highways’ actions are unacceptable, socially damaging and undermine trust and confidence in public bodies. Rejection of the application would also help us to challenge the infilling of No.2 Shaft.

You can OBJECT online via the local council’s planning portal using the following link. It only takes a couple of minutes…

Campaigners from The HRE Group have put together a page of background information which you can use to help formulate an objection…
