We are a group of year 12 students who have initiated a campaign to better support youth centres. Since 2010, over £1.1 billion has been cut from youth services, resulting in the closure of more than 700 youth centres across the country. SecureTeenZones aims to support youth centres and services by raising awareness for the youth so that they can have access to more resources - starting with our local youth centre, Ponders End Youth Centre. We believe that by providing the necessities we can demonstrate the impact. We aspire to bring our campaign’s influence to the attention of local authorities, in hope to push policy makers to prioritise services for the youth. As the YMCA quotes: “Youth services are not a luxury” we believe it is vital to support the future generations in their development and well-being by giving them an established space to flourish in.
