Families of children with autism in Hialeah are struggling to access the recommended Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy due to insufficient funding. ABA therapy, recommended by the American Psychologist Association and hailed as the gold standard for autism therapy, relies on principles of learning and behavior to aid autistic children to understand and control their actions. Currently, many families with autistic children are unable to afford ABA therapy due to its high cost and limited financial support. According to an Autism Speaks report, the average annual cost for ABA therapy can range from $25,000 to $50,000. It's time for our local authorities to direct appropriate funds towards ABA therapy and provide much needed support to Hialeah's families struggling with autism to ensure a healthier and happier future for our children.
