We have reached over 7000 signatures which is great, but not good enough.  Could you please share this petition with your contacts so that we can reach many more people to bring added pressure to government?

There are plenty of good reasons to introduce fuel efficiency standards.  For example:

1.      Reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

2.      Reduced death and illness from air pollution.

3.      Money saved from reduced spending on petrol and diesel.  Academics at the University of Queensland concluded that our drivers could have saved over $1 Billion AUD by this year if we’d adopted internationally harmonised emissions legislation in 2016.

4.      More EVs (and fuel efficient ICE cars) will be imported and become more widely available to Australians

5.      Encourages car manufacturers to improve efficiency more rapidly than otherwise, as they won’t be able to dump inefficient vehicles in Australia.

6.      Improves national security through reduced dependence on imported fuel.
