The Issue
Losing a loved one is incredibly difficult, and caring for them in their final days can be a daunting task. My experience with St Barnabas House was nothing short of amazing. Before she passed away, my mum received unparalleled care and compassion from the dedicated staff at St Barnabas. They not only tended to her physical needs but provided us, her family, with emotional support during one of the toughest times of our lives. After my mum passed, they continued to care for us by offering counselling services, which were invaluable. I can't imagine how we would have coped without the help of such a wonderful hospice.
Hospices like St Barnabas House, Chestnut Tree House, and Martlets Hospice in West Sussex play a vital role in our communities. They provide crucial services to the terminally ill and their families, ensuring quality care and much-needed support during end-of-life stages. Unfortunately, these hospices are facing financial challenges due to insufficient government funding. Without the necessary funds, they are at risk of cutting back on these essential services, impacting countless families.
Every year, hospices across the UK need to raise over £3 billion to continue their work. Much of this is raised through donations, which often fluctuate and are not enough to cover all costs. In the backdrop of economic challenges and rising operational expenses, government funding is critical to sustain these vital healthcare facilities.
By securing steady government funding, we can ensure that St Barnabas House, Chestnut Tree House, and Martlets Hospice continue to offer their invaluable services. Our local hospices provide more than just care; they offer dignity, comfort, and support when it’s needed most.
Please join me in advocating for government intervention to secure funding for these local hospices. With your signature, we can urge the government to recognize the significant role these hospices play and to provide them with sustainable financial support. Let’s make sure no family in West Sussex has to go through these challenging times without the care and support of our incredible hospices. Sign this petition today and be a part of this important cause.
