Living in Letellier, Manitoba I have witnessed firsthand the growing struggle to manage our local cat population. As someone invested in fostering cats, I see the urgent need for proper animal control resources. Our rescues and shelters are overwhelmed, overflowing with animals needing care. It's heartbreaking when the responsibility falls on townspeople, like myself.

The RM of Montcalm must prioritize animal control as an essential service, and there are realistic solutions to this problem. By securing designated funding for a sustainable animal control program, we can really help reduce the stray population through spay and neuter efforts, vet care, and community education about responsible pet ownership. With adequate funding, we can support the creation of more rescue and foster programs to nurture these animals until they find permanent homes.

It is important for our Rural Municipality to recognize the value of these efforts not only for the wellbeing of the cats but for the harmony and safety of our community at large.
