I have been a proud member of the Peterborough Women's Soccer Club for eight years, following in my mother's footsteps. When I returned from university, this club became my sporting community, welcoming me with open arms. Every Sunday from 4-8pm, I look forward to playing the game I love, getting a workout in and socializing with an incredible community from all walks of life. 

However, our beloved club is currently facing a significant challenge that threatens its existence. We are being displaced from our league site of 20 years, where we have always had the 4-8pm time slot. The city is prioritizing new cricket groups over us - longstanding users who have been part of this community for over 40 years.

The alternative fields we are being offered are inferior in terms of size, field type and safety which could potentially lead to injuries or worse conditions for players. This displacement not only affects us but also future generations who will miss out on the opportunity to be part of such an empowering women’s soccer league.

We believe that everyone should have equal access to appropriate and safe fields for play regardless of their sport preference. If we cannot secure appropriate access to these fields, it may signal the end of Women's Soccer in Peterborough.
