My family and I are among the many who felt the toll of the devastating flood that hit Acadia Parish at the end of March 2025. Our house was flooded, and like many others, our insurance does not cover everything. The support structure from the State is inadequate to cater to our needs, because it does not have a fund set up for "Small Disasters". The only help we can get is a Small Business loan.

Given the widespread damage and the dire situation many families are in, I am asking all flood victims who live outside of any city limits in Acadia Parish to sign this informal petition. Having this list would mean proper acknowledgment, assistance, and perhaps, policies tailored to our situation. I'll hand it to our police juror, who will hand it to someone else, and eventually have it in the right hands. 

This list's importance can't be overstated. Accuracy in knowing who is affected increases efficiency and effectiveness in disaster management and planning. Moreover, it will provide an opportunity for Non-governmental Organizations and philanthropists to target those most in need.

By supplying this list, we can potentially drive useful aid and support to those of us suffering in the wake of this disaster.
