Help Me Secure Bail So I Can Defend Myself Fairly

I as a German-South African arrived in Cape Town, South Africa on 8 December 2025 from Switzerland for what was meant to be a short visit. On 8 January 2026, I was taken into custody and have now spent over 60 days in detention awaiting bail.

I am over 50 years old and have no prior arrests or convictions.
I have business responsibilities, and teenage children in Europe who depend on me and due to be here for their summer holidays.

Since my detention, I have been unable to support them or manage my affairs.

This petition is not about deciding guilt or innocence.

It is about something more basic: the right to a fair opportunity to defend oneself.

• From inside prison, it is extremely difficult to:
• Work properly with legal counsel
• Access documents and evidence
• Prepare a full and proper defence

Bail would allow me to do this. It would not end the legal process — it would simply allow me to participate in it fairly.

• I am willing to comply with any bail conditions set by the court.
• I am asking for your support so that I can:
• Prepare my defence properly
  Support my children and responsibilities
• Face the legal process in a fair and balanced way
