Please Replace Former President Andrew Jackson With Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On The Twenty Dollar Bill.

The Issue

In the eighth grade I learned about one of the most horrible and atrocious acts in American history, The Indian Removal act. This bill was endorsed and signed by non other than our seventh President, Andrew Jackson, whose image graces our twenty dollar bill. The Indian Removal Act resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent people and the Trail of Tears, rightfully named as the winter’s trek of hundreds of miles to the reserved territory stolen from other indigenous peoples as the relocation sites for the Cherokee and other southeastern tribes. This man, our President, the man who committed genocide and murder, a man who today would be impeached and charged with genocide and and war crimes, is honored on our currency with great men such as Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln and even one of the people he deemed inferior, Sacajawea

Please help me change this by petitioning Secretary of the Treasury Jacob J. Lew and his advisors in regard currency portraits, The U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, to replace this monster of history and stain on the American past with one of our greatest heroes and humanitarians, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Some of you may also think I got this idea from the TV series Fringe because that's where my petition photo came from. However that is not the case. I happened to stumble upon the image after coming up with the idea. I'd also like to thank Fringe for the image!

There's also a great article about eliminating Jackson from our currency. You can read it here:
