Hi all,

This post isn't related to my campaign but, as a father, my heart absolutely goes out to Melanie Leahy. I wanted to help – I hope you might too.

Melanie has been campaigning for seven years, asking for truth, accountability and change after the death of her only son Matthew, who was just 20 years old. Melanie explains that, in 2012, Matthew was taken to a psychiatric ward for his own safety but Melanie didn’t see Matthew alive again - within seven days of arriving on the ward, Matthew was dead.

Melanie is fighting for a Public Inquiry to uncover the truth about what happened to Matthew and to bring about future change for others within the mental health system. Melanie is running out of time and needs help – she still needs 48k signatures on her petition, and has a few days left to do this.

I’m really hoping we can boost the signature count and get Melanie the 100k signatures needed to be eligible for a Government Debate. If you’re UK based and feel you can support, please consider adding your signature to Melanie's Petition (please click on the link below rather than signing my older drivers' petition).

Full information on Matthew’s story and Melanie’s campaign can be found at Melanie's Website. http://curementalhealth.co.uk

As a dad and having experienced bereavement myself, I can only begin to imagine Melanie’s daily pain and I really hope she can get the chance to be a voice for Matthew.

If you would like more information Melanie is contactable on: Facebook page Justice for Matthew Leahy.

Thanks all,

Ben
