I would like to petition to my local MP, who also happens to be Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, to make Parkinson's prescriptions free to all patients, regardless of age. It's a chronic, long-term, degenerative neurological condition and I strongly believe that support should be provided to all patients.

Parkinson's prescriptions are not currently free for all patients. The reason behind this seems to be that many Parkinson's patients are aged 60+ and already receive free prescriptions. However, there are many, many, younger patients, of working age, who would benefit from not having to pay for their prescriptions.

I hope to have many good years ahead of me, and the cost of my prescriptions will be around £26 every two months (this is the maximum number of months' worth of meds that will be issued in one go) or £104 per year for a pre-paid certificate.

The same applies to so many other people who continue to work hard to support themselves and their families whilst living with this chronic condition. Making prescriptions free would really make a difference in the long term.
