After nearly 4 weeks this petition received a reply to the submission made with 206 signatures, received, signed for, at FCO on 27th July.  The letter (below) does not address the main petition request which was for the Foreign Secretary to impose the UK's own Global Human Rights Sanctions Regulations so as to apply immigration and financial sanctions on the torturers and viopent oppressors of peaceful demonstrations in Belarus.   Over a month since the human rights abuses related to this election started, and over 3 weeks after this petition was submitted there is still no sanctions action from the Foreign Secretary.  He waits for the EU to do the work, identify the targets, and move first. Think how many have been tortured by the eventual targets of these sanctions while the UK stands by. This is hardly the applicaiton of efforts to encourage Global Human Rights.  The request of the petition has still not been met, and the reply we received doe snot directly address the issue raised, indeed it is a standard letter in rpely to many about a range of Belarus issues. I received the same text in reply on 21st August to another e-mail sent about other issues, on 17th August. Makes it even stranger the petition to the Foreign Secretary took so long to get any reply !!
