People driving in the opposite direction in their vehicles - mainly in two wheelers and Autos - is becoming a common sight in Chennai. This trend is making it increasingly difficult to drive on the roads. They seem to take it as a matter of right to drive in any direction, with absolutely no botheration about how it inconveniences fellow citizens who drive in the correct direction or the consequences resulting out of their disobedience to traffic rules

Quite often, it is only people who drive in the right direction who meet with accidents, when they try to leave way for those driving in the wrong direction

This trend, if not stopped, will lead to people driving in any direction that suits their convenience, to reach their destination.

Though in the recent amendments to the Motor Vehicles Act, hefty fines have been introduced, these incidents take place right in front of the police personnel who turn a blind eye.
