The Issue

This petition is in support of Harry Goodall Jr.’s  (P42773) 1170(d)(1) referral to the LA County DA and/or Commutation of Sentence by the Governor of California and we hope that you’ll sign it in support of his release.

After 22 year’s incarceration, and extensive years of rehabilitative efforts by Harry, it is time that he is recognized for these efforts and be freed to do the work that is much needed in society.

On 4/2/2021, CDCR SEC Allison reviewed Harry’s case at the possibility of sending his case to the LA County DA’s office for resentencing.  She chose to not act. However, we later discovered that she was not provided with the essential information so that she could make an informed decision.

Upon Harry's release, he will be working with The Beat Within. This organization provides incarcerated youth with consistent opportunities to share their ideas and life experiences in a safe space that encourages literacy, self-expression, critical thinking skills, and healthy, supportive relationships with adults. Harry will be one of those adults showing juveniles that there is another way of life, one that leads to a productive and healthy lifestyle.

Harry has been honing his leadership skills to prepare for his role of mentor and at-risk youth counselor when he is released. He has earned an Associate Degree in Behavioral Science, and a Paralegal certification. He is a graduate of several powerhouse groups: Coalition for Justice, Guiding Rage Into Power, and more.  He has earned correspondence course certificates from P.R.E.P. and other organizations, 3 of which he completed during the COVID-19 lockdown to stay current. He has been a member of Toastmaster International for 10 years and has a long history of writing for both The San Quentin News, The Beat Within, and has published in the Prison Journalism Project.

To stop is to die. Life is in motion. In growth. In change. Life is in seeking and finding. Life is in redemption. Each moment is a new birth. A new chance to come back, to get it right. A new chance to make it better. – Yasmin Mogahed

Harry is ready! Thank you for your time, Nikki Goodall
