Dear Friends and Supporters,

My name is Britt Stanton, and I am reaching out to you today to request your continued support in advocating for my husband, Leon Stanton's freedom. Today, we reached an incredible milestone of 100 signatures on our Change.org petition, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who has stood by us in this fight. To my family, friends, and especially my wonderful mother-in-law, Valerie Holloman, whose relentless efforts have gathered signatures from her friends and coworkers thank you! Your kindness means more than you can imagine.

Leon and I met in 1992 and fell in love as children. For the past 33 years, we have shared an unbreakable bond. This situation is a true test of our love and resilience. I always say, "It's not what happens in life, it's how you handle it." One of my favorite sayings, which has guided me through many challenges, is: "You are not your current situation." Leon acknowledges the mistakes he has made, but he does not deserve a life sentence. The years have taken their toll he came in with dark brown hair, and now it's almost white.

Leon is currently in the Federal Challenge Program, but he has had to navigate through immense challenges. He has been in the program twice the length of time it should have taken due to constant lockdowns linked to daily violence. Despite these conditions, he stands out as an excellent participant and an asset to the program. Tragically, he has also faced deplorable living conditions, where he and those around him often fall ill due to receiving rotten or expired food. The population regularly experiences vomiting and signs of food poisoning, leaving him with the difficult choice of consuming overly processed or spoiled food.

Leon has at least another 20 years ahead of him in this unjust situation, but we believe in the power of prayer and dua. We refuse to accept this fate! Our goal is to have this sentence overturned and time served. We aim to bring this matter to the desk of Alice Marie Johnson, our new Pardon Czar, and then to President Trump's desk.

As the African American author I admire once said, "The kindness of strangers is the greatest gift of all." Please continue to share our petition, encourage your friends to sign, and let's amplify our voices together. Each signature is a step toward justice for Leon.

With heartfelt gratitude and hope,

Britt Stanton
