Save Lives of Veterans

The Issue

13 years after 9/11, we have a serious veteran suicide epidemic: veterans have the highest suicide rate of any population in America. 22 of us kill ourselves everyday. Please, remember that before you go to bed tonight: from this moment to then, 22 veterans will no longer breathe the same air as us, they won't enjoy the same freedom they protected for all of us.

Tell Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald, every community college can and must provide veterans with full-time health clinics, just like at the City College of San Francisco. There, they can find resources for mental health, PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, survivors guilt, and community for healing and growth. There are more than 61,000 veterans and 9,000 active duty troops enrolled in California Community Colleges alone. We have the largest college system in the world. Many veterans choose California to restart life, so lets start here.

Veterans are trained in violence but we can offer them a new life: they can come home and provide leadership and continued service in a non-violent, forward looking and hopeful way.

They served us. Let's serve them. Please reach out to a veteran today. Demand full-time clinics at our community colleges.  #NeverForget
