SeaWorld has a history of treating their orcas harshly for human entertainment. The captivity of Orcas truly affects their lifestyle and changes their habits.  Captive orcas tend to have a variety of health and mental issues such as a lopsided fins due to their captivity and stress they experience while not being fed the right amount food and wondering when their next meal will be.. All captive adult male orcas have collapsed dorsal fins, because they have no space in which to swim freely and are fed an unnatural diet of thawed dead fish. SeaWorld claims that this condition is common however, in the wild it rarely ever happens and is a sign of an injured or unhealthy orca according to “SeaWord hunt”. Orcas also experience high levels of stress from being apart from their family or from feeling angry when they don't quite get fed enough due to  their lack of performance doing tricks. Therefore captivity for human entertainment should not be acceptable anymore and change needs to occur to help these brilliant warm hearted orcas. Orcas are truly smart they feel, they have emotions just like humans do and treating them inhumane has become a huge problem in the entertainment industrty.

Orcas captivity has become a huge problem for the oceans ecosystem. Throughout the years the oceans ecosystem has changed drasticlly. For example the sea levels rising and plastic has hurt and confused the animals in the ocean. The change has caused them to lose family, friends, and get lost alone with no help. This has become a global problem because of the catastrophes that result in captivity of one of the smartest animals in the ocean. Orcas are not only reffered to as the biggest animals in the sea but they are also called the kings of the sea. It is brutal to steal orcas from the wild, they are being parted from their families and natural habitats. Orcas are the top predators in the ocean. When it comes to the environment and the oceans ecosystem whales help regulate the flow of food by helping to maintain a stable food chain and ensuring that certain animal species do not overpopulate the ocean. Therefore orca captivity has destroyed a huge percentage of the oceans ecosystem. Whaling is the hunting of whales for their usable products such as meat and blubber, which can be turned into a type of oil which became increasingly important in the Industrial Revolution. However it causes pain and torture to the orcas. Whaling is very popular in japan captuering them and cutting their body parts is what people do to gain money there, but that is only causing harm to the whales but to us humans as well because we are destroying the oceans ecosystem causing future casatrophes.

Orcas in the wild are set to live for about one hundred years around the same lifespan of a human. In their cell at SeaWorld they are said to live around thirty to fifty years. SeaWorld says that all orcas have that thirty to fifthy year lifespan which is false facts they are informing their guest. The lifespan are different because in the wild they are free, not stressed and living happy. In captivity they experience depression due to stress, torture, and not being fed. This causes them to act out in a negative way towards people. In the movie BlackFish i noticed how the orcas  release anger when they are tired of the same thing being done over and over again causing them to hurt people to be heard even if they dont want to hurt them. Orcas are trying to get heard that they dont belong in captivivty, that that is not their home. For example Tilikum, nicknamed Tilly, was a captive orca, who spent most of his life performing at SeaWorld Orlando. He was captured in Iceland in 1983 at Hafnarfjörður, near Reykjavík. Tilikum spent most of his life used for breeding, entertainment and was bullied by other whales. When whales are being bullied by opther whales they come out with new cuts and scrathes all over their body, which is a horrible feeling to imagine. Picture yourself getting tossed and punched byt the older people in your school or work, it is not so nice and your anger grows quite fast. Therefore tilikum hadf his reason as why to he reacted so negative and brutal towards dawn. However Tilikum killed Dawn an outstanding trainer who had a great connection with the orcas. After her death everyone was in shock that it was Dawn who Tilikum had killed because she was extremely experienced  and good with whales. Orcas only way of being heard are if they catch people's attention by causing pain to them, to let people know that they can do damage if they wanted to. They cause pain to humans because they are traumatized of what trainers or people do to them. In the movie BlackFish someone said how there is no record of them doing any harm in the wild. This proves how orcas are not meant to be held captive and are meant to be in their natural habitats.

Therefore orcas are such a big importance in the ecosystem. Meaning that SeaWorld needs to stop holding captive orcas for entertainment. People need to start doing their research and support the wildlife. Take action and sign petitions to stop orca captivity. I am asking for 1,000 signatures so that others that are uninformed on the captivity can also go against it and support the voiceless orcas.
