The community at Ballard High School is not anywhere close to acceptable. There are more than enough scenarios and experiences that the students have gone through to prove just this. From sexual harassment, assault (both verbal and sexual) to acts of racism, transphobia, and homophobia. Many of said experiences haven't gone unreported. Students have spoken up and confided in the administration at Ballard. But those accused have not faced the consequences that they deserve. Often, administration sweeps the accusations under the rug or decides to blame the victims themselves. This is not ok. We DEMAND that change is made within the halls of Ballard High School in order to make it the "great community" that the principal Kevin Wynkoop makes it out to be. We DEMAND that the faculty that have been accused of harassment and have been reported be held accountable. As well as hold the students whose actions have been reported accountable for their disgusting actions and have their enrollment be reevaluated. It is detrimental that the Seattle Public School District become proactive in eliminating the unacceptable environment within Ballard High School as well as the rest of SPS schools.
