To Our Next Mayor:

Seattle’s Office of Sustainability and Environment reports that the city is not currently on track to meet its 2030 and 2050 goals for the reduction of carbon pollution. Despite the city government’s efforts to lead on climate change, much more needs to be done. 

During your term in office, the policies you support will set the stage for Seattle’s success or failure on climate action and your legacy as a local and global leader. 

We ask you to commit to making substantial progress on Seattle’s climate goals through immediate, measurable actions.

The policies in the attached pledge are based on work that has been proposed but not acted on by the city government. These policies will lead to meaningful reductions in Seattle’s carbon pollution. We request that you commit to this pledge, and that this work be prioritized in your administration.
